San Miguel de Allende
Founded in 1542 by Franciscan monk Fray Juan de San Miguel. General Ignacio Allende, one of San Miguel's native sons, was a leading player in the war against Spain for independence.
San Miguel was declared a national historic monument in 1926 by the Mexican government. In the 1950s, it became a destination known for its beautiful colonial architecture and its thermal springs.
San Miguel de Allende was also named a Pueblo Mágico in 2002. and has applied for a UNESCO World Heritage Site designation, which will be decided this year.
Now days San Miguel’s essence consists on his art galleries and schools, monuments, hot springs, architecture, concerts, fine international cousin, boutique hotels, shopping, different extreme activities, tours, and all that for you to enjoy under the most kind and stable weather.
